2.1 General Rules

Updated Feb 27, 2026 — Chapter 2: Rules and Conduct
← Back to Chapter 2: Rules and Conduct

To ensure a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for everyone, we ask all participants to follow these core rules. They are in place to protect players, uphold the integrity of the game world, and maintain a high standard of conduct both in and out of character.

Age Requirement & Identification

Volaire is a strictly NC-17 game due to the mature themes and intense scenarios that may arise during In-Play (IP) interactions. While we strive to create a community-oriented and welcoming space, some content may not be appropriate for younger audiences.

  All new players must:
Be 17 years of age or older
Present a valid photo ID (e.g., driver’s license, state-issued ID) for photocopying at check-in
Sign our Waiver of Liability (available on our website or at the registration table) before character registration

Substance Policy

To ensure the safety and well-being of everyone on site, the following rules are enforced without exception:

Alcohol

Absolutely no alcohol is permitted at any Volaire event, regardless of legal drinking age.

If alcohol is to be used as an In-Play prop, it must be completely non-alcoholic and pre-approved by a Game Manager.

Drugs

Zero-tolerance policy. Any individual found in possession of, using, or distributing illegal drugs will be immediately and permanently banned from all Volaire events.

Additional Prohibited Items:

Firearms: Even with a concealed carry permit, weapons must remain secured in your vehicle at all times.

Explosives: Fireworks, homemade devices, and anything flammable or dangerous are strictly forbidden.

Stereos: Music is allowed only if it fits the medieval fantasy aesthetic and is played quietly enough not to disrupt gameplay or immersion.

Theft & Property Damage

We have a No Tolerance Policy regarding the theft or intentional damage of Out-of-Play (OOP) personal property.

  • First offense: One-year ban from all events
  • Second offense: Permanent ban from Volaire LARP

Respect other players' belongings, both in and out of character.

Inclusivity & Respect

Volaire is a diverse, inclusive community that welcomes people from all walks of life. We ask that you approach others with curiosity and kindness, not judgment or ridicule.

We do not tolerate any form of Out-of-Play discrimination, including but not limited to:

  • Race or ethnicity
  • Gender identity or expression
  • Sexual orientation
  • Religion or belief system
  • Neurodivergence or mental health status
  • Physical disability or chronic illness

Violation of this rule will be treated with utmost seriousness and may result in immediate removal from the event.

Physical Contact & Consent

We follow a strict Hands-Off Policy unless explicit consent is given. While many aspects of roleplay can be intense or emotional, everyone has the right to feel physically safe and respected.

Physical contact—including touch-casting, combat grappling, or gestures of affection—is only permitted if:

  • You’ve received clear verbal permission from the other player
  • You ask and receive a “yes” to: “Permission to touch?”

If a player says “no,” that boundary must be honored without question.

Player Health & Medical Info

Your safety is our top priority. If you have any medical conditions—including allergies, physical limitations, mental health considerations, or sensitivities to light/sound/chemicals—please complete a Medical Information Form.

This can be:

  • Printed and filled out in advance (form available on our website)
  • Completed during check-in with the assistance of staff

We have trained EMTs on site at every event in case of emergency. Your privacy will be respected, and your information kept secure.

These rules aren’t here to limit your fun—they’re here to protect the magic of Volaire and ensure that every player, from wide-eyed first-timer to grizzled veteran, has a safe and unforgettable experience.

If you have any questions, concerns, or just need a hand navigating it all, our staff is always here to help.
