← Back to Chapter 1: So, You Wanna Be A LARPer?

Welcome, adventurer! Your journey into the world of Volaire begins the moment you arrive on site. To help you ease into your first event, here’s exactly what to expect and what steps you’ll need to follow.

Step One: Check-In with a Game Manager

Upon arrival, your first stop is the check-in station. A Game Manager will always be stationed behind the cash register to assist you.

Here’s what you’ll do:

  • Pay for your event
  • Present your ID for photocopying
  • Complete or turn in your Waiver of Liability and Emergency Medical Information forms
  • Once this is done, you're officially in! Next, head straight to Character Creation to meet with staff and finalize your character sheet. They’ll issue your skill tags, spell cards (if applicable), and other items needed to play.

Your “event tag” is your proof of paid attendance—don’t lose it!

Step Two: Settle In

After registration, you may proceed to your designated cabin or sleeping area. Use this time to:

  • Unpack your gear
  • Organize your In-Play items
  • Get into costume (if time permits)
  • Once you’ve dropped off your belongings, it’s time to move your vehicle.

Park in the designated lot. Personal vehicles are not allowed in the play area during the event.

Step Three: Opening Ceremonies (Mandatory!)

Opening Ceremonies are REQUIRED for all first-time players—and strongly encouraged for everyone else.

This is where you’ll:

  • Be introduced to the current storyline
  • Meet key staff members and NPCs
  • Learn important rules and changes
  • Get fully immersed in the world of Volaire

Missing Opening Ceremonies may result in missed plot hooks, lost IP opportunities, or delayed access to character progression.

Step Four: Safety Course (Mandatory for First-Time Players)

Immediately following Opening Ceremonies, all new players must attend the New Player Safety Course.

This course will cover:

  • Safe and effective boffer combat
  • How to use your weapons and spell packets
  • Proper responses to “HOLD” calls and other game signals
  • In-Play vs. Out-of-Play conduct
  • General etiquette and expectations on the field

At the end of the session, your Life Tag will be signed by a staff member. You’ll need this tag to participate in any combat or physically interactive scenes.

Step Five: You’re In the Game!

Once you’ve completed registration, safety training, and Opening Ceremonies, you’re ready to fully enter the world of Volaire.

Don your costume, gather your gear, and step into character—your story begins now.

Welcome to the realm of struggle, glory, and endless possibility.
