At Volaire, your story matters.

When creating your character, we strongly encourage all players to submit a written character history. This is your opportunity to bring your persona to life and help our staff craft meaningful, personalized experiences for you in the world of Volaire. The more we know about your character—where they came from, what drives them, what they fear or seek—the more we can weave that story into the fabric of the game itself.

Deadline for Submission

If you plan to submit a backstory, it must be turned in no later than the start of your third event. After this point, we will no longer be able to accept or incorporate new character histories into the official narrative.

However, don’t worry—if you miss the deadline, your character’s story can still grow organically through roleplay. Many players find their characters evolving as they interact with others and explore the world.

Need help getting started? Reach out via a support ticket. Our team is always happy to guide you through the process.

What Makes a Good Character History?

There’s no required length or format—but detail helps! A well-thought-out backstory gives us more to work with and can open doors to deeper plotlines, special encounters, and unique in-game opportunities. And yes, we reward effort and creativity: if your backstory particularly impresses us, your character might receive a small surprise as a token of appreciation.

Important Guidelines – Stay Within the World

To keep things fair and immersive for all players, please follow these restrictions:

You may not claim to be:

  • Royalty or nobility from a far-off kingdom
  • A Lich, Vampire, or other form of Undead
  • An “All-Powerful” anything (sorcerer, warrior, etc.)
  • A member of a restricted or specialty class (like Knight)
  • The world’s greatest fighter
  • A unicorn with fairy wings and a dragon tail (yes, we’ve seen it)

Use common sense and keep power levels appropriate to a starting (5th level) character. Your character can be ambitious, skilled, or mysterious—but not legendary on arrival.

Creative workarounds are fair game:

  • “Child of an advisor to a distant king”
  • “Raised in the swamps by a Lich who thought I was a frog”
  • “Sibling of a retired Knight now lost to time”

Just remember: connections to powerful people or strange origins may bring unexpected complications. Everything you submit could become very real in-game.
