Jewelsmithing

Updated Feb 27, 2026 — Chapter 6: Production and Crafting
← Back to Chapter 6: Production and Crafting

Jewelsmithing is the crafting skill used to cut and refine raw gemstones into magically attuned components. These gems are used in ritual magic, crafted items, and enchantments. All Jewelsmithing must be performed at a Forge or Jeweler’s Bench, and requires appropriate tools and gemstone tags. There is no field use for Jewelsmithing.

Refinement results depend on the rarity of the raw gem and the Jewelsmith’s skill rank. Each rank allows access to rarer gem types and more advanced refinements.

✦ Rank-Based Access

Rank Gem Rarities Example Outputs
1 Common Polished Gemstone (non-attuned), Ritual Focus (Basic)
2 Uncommon Elemental Focus Gem, Channeling Crystal (e.g., Fire, Ice, Light)
3 Rare Forged Gem Core (for socketed items), Ritual Keystone
4 Very Rare Stabilized Focus (used in durable enchantments or larger rituals)
5 Exotic Spell-Locked Gem (holds spell charges), Masterwork Focus (multi-scroll compatible)

Note: All terms reflect canon item usage and do not imply mechanical effects unless otherwise defined in approved scrolls or rituals.

✦ Refinement Process

  • Turn in a gem tag with declared rarity.
  • Declare your intent (ritual use, crafting use, etc.) to a Marshal or at Check-In.
  • Submit any silver cost required by the recipe or system.
  • Receive a refined tag (e.g., “Attuned Gem: Ice – Rare”).
