Skills and Refunds Policy

At Volaire, we understand that characters grow and change—and sometimes, that means a skill you once chose no longer fits your vision. That’s why we offer a limited skill refund option.

Selling Back a Skill

If you decide a skill isn’t working for your character, you may sell it back under the following conditions:

  • The Build Points spent on the skill will be refunded to your character.
  • You are free to spend those points on other available skills.
  • However, once a skill has been refunded, you may never repurchase that specific skill againever.

This rule applies to all refunded skills, regardless of the reason for the refund.

Pro Tip for Chaos Fae: Pandora’s Perk

If you're a Chaos Fae considering Pandora’s Perk, listen closely:

Pandora’s Perk randomly assigns you five unique perks or abilities. If you want to avoid the risk of permanently receiving one you don’t want:

  • Purchase all five perks at once
  • Then, use the refund policy to sell back any perks you don’t plan to use

This way, you’ll get the perks you’re happiest with—without locking yourself out of something useful later.

Skill Ownership vs. Use

Even if you’re unable to physically perform a skill Out-of-Play (due to injury, accessibility, or other reasons), your character still retains knowledge of that skill In-Play.

This means:

  • You may still teach that skill to others in-game
  • You can even charge gold for lessons as part of your roleplay
  • Your character remains mechanically competent, even if you aren’t using the skill in combat

Example: If your character has One-Handed Proficiency but you can’t physically use a sword due to an OOP limitation, you can still teach swordplay or offer “combat lessons” for coin and roleplay value.
